How to display an antique dress?
I recently bought a gorgeous 1920s (or maybe even earlier?) dress. It is sheer with beautiful soft blue and pink hues and amazing embroidered flowers. I want to have it on display, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Because it is sheer it looks the most lovely with light coming through it, but I don't want to hang it in a window for fear that it will fade. Suggestions? Possible pictures to show ideas? Thank you!
Find an antique dress form (what dressmakers use to place unfinished dresses on while they are still working on them) and use artificial lighting from behind to display it. Definitely don't expose it to sunlight and periodically take it to the cleaners to get it cleaned. Letting it get dirty or dusty will cause it to deteriorate.
