Can I use unglazed Porcelain Tile for backsplash?
I am planning to do my kitchen backsplash and when I came to Lowes they carry a lot of beautiful unglazed porcelain tles but not many glazed ones. I wonder if we could use these unglazed tiles and seal them with sort of sealers. Can I do that? Could you recommend some sealers to use?
Thanks.
The tiles at we carry at Lowe's are nice. You will need to use a basic sealer to seal the tiles, price doesn't matter get the $8.98 sealer as this is a backsplash with no "foot traffic". My suggestion is to seal the tiles before installation, this makes it easier & cleaner. Just lat the tiles on newspaper & roll/brush the sealer on. 3 - 4 mini coats with drying time between (20-25 minutes will ensure they remain sealed & have the best protective coat. When done just throw the newspaper away.
Sealing before installing means no runs & no drops on your countertop which will ensure a faster, cleaner job.
Have Fun
