Should Disney do an animated feature film based on one of Shakespeare's plays?
I think this would be a fabulous idea to get Disney's young viewing audience interested in Shakesperian literature, something they really ought to develop, in my opinion. One of the big differences would be they would have to update the vintage old English language ("art thou") into the more modern language we use today, so kids can understand the dialouge better.
Do you think this would be feasible? If so, which play do you think they should make into a film.
I think it's a good idea, and not just something based off of it, like the Lion King. They probably shouldn't do the tragedies, too much death at the end. Perhaps Midsummer Night's Dream? Fantasy elements with the fae and the flower mix up would be fun for an animated film. I agree the language would have to be changed. No little kid is going to understand the original words.
